A networking event you can’t escape from

We’ve teamed up with marketing and design agency Purple Robot to host a free networking event with a difference at Escape Lincoln; a new escape room in the city centre.

24 people from local businesses will help one another escape from a series of mind-boggling challenge rooms. Escape Lincoln has three mysterious rooms for guests to escape from with a curious magic emporium and a Sherlock Holmes riddle among the adventures, with more to open soon.

Purple Robot’s Managing Director Damien Howard-Pask, who is organising the event, said:

“When you’re working with other companies, it’s really important that you can work together and you know and appreciate how each of you operate. What better way to do that than to solve some fun challenges together in an escape room? Talk about a captive audience!

“Lincoln is currently seeing a golden era of networking events with a wide range of networking groups that have different styles and formats. Some people prefer the structured style of Lincoln BNI or Lincoln Business Club, others like informal and relaxed sociable networking like Lincoln-X where you can meet in a bar and have a drink. They’re all great, this is just another variation on the theme… and we promise no awkward 60 second pitches.

“Assuming we do eventually manage to escape, we’d love to invite more businesses to similar events in future!”

Carrington founder Rob Tomkinson said: “When Damien came up with the idea, we thought it would be good fun, but as soon as he sent out a few invitations, the spaces started filling up in an instant. Networking can be a slightly awkward thing to do and it’s not for everyone, so this could be a great way to break the ice and help business people get to know one another and make useful connections while having a good time. I’m really looking forward to it.”

The escape room event on February 27th, which is to be the first of Purple Robot’s “Networking with a Difference” events, has only a couple of spaces remaining. If it’s successful, Purple Robot is planning to arrange more of these different events in future. These will include fundraising events as they work to support their new charity of the year, the ChILD Lung Foundation.

You can follow their news here or following the team on Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin where you’ll find information on their upcoming appeals, events and information on how to donate to ChILD Lung Foundation.
